Foraged Film —

This project started with a suggestion from my partner in a moment of burnout: try something new, and do it without the pressure of earning money from it, or even sharing it at all if I don't want to.

The same week, a friend of mine told me about "vernacular" photography, and "found" photography. In short, these categories describe "non-artistic" photographs that are taken of everyday life, and how those photographs are used as materials themselves — transformed into new works.

Holding these two ideas, I visited my favorite local art store and started sifting through their giant bin of donated mounted slides — a few visits and over 800 slides later, fell absolutely in love. I started scanning and compiling my finds into dozens of categories, with some I still haven't found homes for. I scanned each slide's mount and film, and put them together in photoshop. I'm so delighted to be sharing them with you.
